Men's Hockey Posts Tuesday Shutout Against Saint Anselm

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team picked up a 4-0 midweek win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 7-1-1 and hand the Hawks a loss at 9-5-1.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 12:35 into the game. Cam Berube cleared the puck up the left boards for Andy Stoneman. Stoneman quickly made a flat pass to Gabe Shipper who skated in far side. Shipper one-timed a deflection up and over the glove of Nick Howard.
  • Just 23 seconds into the second period, Ethan Kimball doubled Bowdoin's lead. Jack Studley put a shot on pads from the right point with the rebound kicking left. Kimball collected the loose puck and slid a shot through Howard's pads.
  • Midway through the frame Andy Stoneman made it 3-0. Jack Gilligan saw a shot from the right side deflect off a defender's stick and to an open Stoneman. Stoneman put a clean wrister into the net.
  • Stoneman had his second of the game 1:27 into the third to cap the day's scoring. Jake Sullivan put the puck in play from the left point and Stoneman cleaned up the scrum in front of the net.
 
 By the Numbers
  • AJ DiChiara picked up his first collegiate shutout with 23 saves in net for Bowdoin.
  • Howard stopped 43 shots for the Hawks.
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Saint Anselm was 0-for-1.
  • Stoneman paced the Polar Bears with three points, while Shipper had two.
