BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College cross country teams were lauded in academic awards handed out today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
Both the men's and women's teams were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams while ten members of the squad were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. For team recognition, a program must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
 
The women's team boasted a GPA of 3.8 to rank 20^th in the nation while the men's team recorded a 3.69 GPA to stand 13^th among Division III teams. Coach Ben Raphelson's teams also had ten athletes earn individual academic recognition. For the men's team Sam Angevine, John Auer, Ben Bockmann, Will Goddard and Brooks Peters achieved Academic Athlete status while Stephanie Chun, Lex Davis, Abby Mueller, Leila Trummel and Claire Wyman received the honor for the women's team.
