Women's Hockey Comes Up Short at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin women's hockey team suffered a series sweep at Middlebury after falling 3-1 in game two on Saturday.
 
The Polar Bears are 7-9-0 (2-9-0 NESCAC) on the season. The sixth-ranked Panthers are 10-4-1 (6-2-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Just under five minutes into the second period, Middlebury went ahead 1-0. Dani Marquez tipped a loose puck away from the crease, but the rebound Caroline Cutter scooped it up and put away a clean look.
  • Brett Stoddard answered for the Polar Bears four minutes later. Stoddard blasted a shot from the center of the blue line on a power play to beat Sophia Will.
  • Middlebury closed out the second period with a one-timer by Britt Nawrocki to go back up 2-1.
  • The Panthers iced the game with a third goal with 3:04 remaining in the final period. The puck rebounded off the back boards to Cutter on the right post. Cutter poked home a second of the game.
