Nor'Easters Rally Late and Force Overtime Tie in Women's Hockey

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England scored a pair of goals in the final two minutes of regulation to come from behind and force a 2-2 overtime tie against women's hockey on Tuesday evening.

The Polar Bears (7-9-1) record their first tie of the season and the Nor'Easters sit at 7-10-2.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored with 4:02 remaining in the first period to go ahead 1-0. The Polar Bears held the one goal lead until midway through the third period. Ali Dougal fired a shot across net from the right point. Kiley Briand cleaned up the rebound and put a shot in net from the right post.
  • Anyi Sun doubled Bowdoin's lead at 11:11 in the third. Sun teed up a shot from the left point that found its way past Delanie Corcoran.
  • The Nor'Easters got on the board with 1:59 remaining in regulation. As time expired on the power play, Carolyn Curley carried through the left circle and put the puck toward goal. Piper Desorcie finished off the play by working the puck through Meg Miranda's pads.
  • With the goalie pulled and six skaters on the ice, UNE forced overtime with an equalizer at 19:40. Again, Desorcie pushed a loose puck through Miranda's pads.
  • Miranda came up with two huge breakaway saves in overtime. Avery Lutrykowski received a breakout pass and skated into the Bowdoin zone uncontested. Miranda tracked the skater all the way to right post and shut down the bid. Miranda later made a sprawling right pad save on a shot by Maeve Crehan.
