Men's Hoops Can't Overcome Early Deficit in Loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team couldn't dig out from a halftime deficit in a 78-62 loss to Colby on Saturday afternoon in Waterville. The Polar Bears fall to 7-11 (0-5 NESCAC) while the Mules improve to 14-5 (1-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Tied a ten apiece in the early going, an 18-2 run by Colby, capped by a pair of three-pointers from Noah Tyson, gave the Mules a double-digit lead.
  • Bowdoin trailed 46-24 at the break as Colby connected on 47% from the field, including nine three-pointers, in the opening half.
  • Colby led by as many as 28 points in the second half before Bowdoin made a valiant, late run.
  • Bowdoin chipped away, cutting the lead in half on an Afamdi Achufusi three-pointer with 8:33 to go, but could get no closer than 14 points as Colby held on to win.

  • Colby finished at 46% shooting to 37% for Bowdoin, and knocked down 15 three-pointers compared to Bowdoin's five for the game.
  • Bowdoin was paced by 15 points from James McGowan, who also had seven boards. Afamdi Achufusi had 14 points while Andrew Szwez added nine and five rebounds off the bench.
  • The Polar Bears won the rebounding battle (32-29)
