Men's Hockey Secures 5-4 Midweek Win over USM

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's hockey team returned to the win column with a 5-4 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 9-4-1 on the season, while dropping the Huskies to 3-13-1.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Huskies scored first at 3:32 as Nick Nault took a shot from the left point that trickled through five-hole.
  • PJ Neal tied the game a minute and a half later with a wraparound that began in the left corner and finished at the far post.
  • Thirty seconds later, Chris Brown gave Bowdoin its first lead of the game. Ethan Kimball made a diving pass to Brown on his left. Brown wristed a shot from the low slot.
  • Southern Maine scored the fourth goal of the period on the power play at 8:33. Nolan McElhaney slipped a pass from right to left to Nick Librizzi. Librizzi skated in to the high side of the circle and fired a shot.
  • Bowdoin regained the lead 7:15 into the second. Chris Brown made a pass from the top of the zone to Ean Small. Small took a few strides towards net and wristed a shot into the back.
  • The Huskies found their third goal at 13:13. Following a scrum in front of the crease that was not whistled dead, Azam Jiwa flipped the puck up and over the pile.
  • Less than five minutes into the third, Albert Washco gave Bowdoin the permanent lead. Andy Stoneman set up the play with a feed from the goal line up to Washco on the far right post for a one-timer.
  • Cam Berube converted another power play ten minutes later, this time driving home a shot with a feed from Bobby Pearl.
  • The Huskies pulled their goalie in the final minute and used the extra skater to add a fourth goal.

  • The Huskies converted on their only power play of the game.
  • The Polar Bears went 3-for-4 on the power play.
  • AJ DiChiara made 19 saves for the win.
  • Kyle Penton stopped 32 shots in the loss.
