Men's Cross Country Takes Runner-up Finish at Debut Home Meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's and women's cross country teams took second-place finishes in their home debut on Saturday at the Bowdoin Invitational #1. The Polar Bears finished only behind nationally-ranked Tufts in both races.

Men's Meet Highlights
  • The Polar Bears finished only behind the 26th-ranked Jumbos, who had six of the race's top nine finishers to post a team total of 27 points. Bowdoin was runner-up with 53 points, easily out-pacing the rest of the field, led by third-place Suffolk (92).
  • Bowdoin's top two finishers were neck-and-neck with Sam Angevine taking third in 25:41.8, followed by Will Goddard in 25:46.8 on the 8K course. Angevine's was a big personal best while Goddard was making his debut at this distance.
  • Brooks Peters was tenth in 26:23.0, followed by John Auer in 13th at 26:36.8.
  • Bowdoin had a group of five runners tightly packed in the 30's, led by Ashton Dunlap in 29th (27:10.4) and James Giltner (27:20.1)

  • Bowdoin will return to action next Saturday at the Maine State Meet hosted at Saxl Park by Husson.
