Field Hockey Shuts Out Camels for NESCAC Win

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin field hockey team picked up its first conference win of the season with a 4-0 road victory at Connecticut College.
 
The Polar Bears (3-1, 1-1 NESCAC) picked up their first shutout of the season en route to dropping the Camels to a 1-3 (0-2 NESCAC) record.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears took a 1-0 lead with 1:10 remaining in the first quarter. After the insert, Maya Malenfant lined up a shot that went towards net and was redirected by Jill Cloonan for the game's first.
  • Ten minutes into the third quarter, Sophia Rutman fed a pass from five yards outside the circle. Sophia Rosati tipped the ball inside the circle and the shot popped up and over the shoulder of Sophia Moniz.
  • Just three minutes later Bowdoin added another tally. Faith Jennings collected a clear attempt just beyond the circle and dribbled back in before flicking a shot past Moniz.
  • With two minutes off the clock in the fourth, Hanna Wurdack scored the fourth and final goal. Cloonan set up the play with a spin pass to the Wurdack on the far post.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held an 11-3 edge in shots on net.
  • The Polar Bears took eight penalty corners to the Camels' one.
  • Julia Arsenault made three saves for the shutout win.
  • Moniz made seven stops.
