Cross Country Teams Open Campaign With Wave Races at Pineland Farms

NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine - The Bowdoin College cross country teams launched their 2022 campaigns with the CBB Class Wave Races hosted by Pineland Farms on Saturday. The Polar Bears performed well in the races, which were split into junior/senior and first-year/sophomore categories.

In the women's races, which were just under 3 miles (4.5k) Leila Trummel placed first in the junior/senior race in a time of 17:42, out-pacing the field by more than 20 seconds. Abby Mueller was right behind in 18:03, with Claire Wyman (18:07) and Lauren Traum (18:42) also notching top-five finishes. Lex Davis won the underclassmen race in a time of 18:23.

The men's races saw Sam Angevine led the way with a third-place showing in the junior/senior race, covering the 6.1k course in 19:40, followed by Brooks Peters in fourth at 20:02. Bowdoin's top performer in the underclassmen race was Will Goddard in 19:42, good enough for a second-place showing.

The Polar Bears will have a week before returning to action with their first home competition of the year- the Bowdoin Invitational on September 24.
