Men's Tennis Falls in NESCAC Quarterfinals to Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team couldn't hold off a surge in singles play by Amherst, falling in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament Friday morning, 5-3.
 
The Polar Bears stand at 15-5 this season following the loss.
 
Match Highlights             
  • Things started well for the Polar Bears in doubles play, as the team won two of three matches to carry a lead into singles action.
  • Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples got Bowdoin going with a 8-3 win at number one before Ethan Bradley/Pieter Breuker won a tiebreaker to take an 8-7 win at number three.
  • Needing three singles wins, Bowdoin could only muster one before Amherst got rolling. Ethan Bradley claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at number six, but the Mammoths won three straight-set matches and closed it out with a three-set win at number five.
