Baseball Wraps Regular Season With Win at Saint Joseph's

STANDISH, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team concluded the regular season with a 10-5 win over Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday night.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 16-17 heading into the NESCAC tournament. The Monks are 28-12.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board with a two-run homer off the bat of CJ Brito-Trinidad in the top of the first.
  • The Monks eventually tied the game with a run in the first and another in the fifth.
  • Ben McKenzie regained the lead for the Polar Bears, knocking an RBI double to left in the sixth. Mike Moynihan added a sacrifice fly in the same inning, to make it 4-2.
  • Saint Joseph's kept the game close, pulling within one in the seventh, off an RBI single.
  • Bowdoin broke the game open in the eighth. Aidan Carey hit a two-run homer, as did McKenzie. Gavin Cann tagged an RBI double and Zac Borden scored on a wild pitch.
  • Saint Joseph's got a pair of runs back in the bottom half of the eighth, but McKenzie hit his second homer of the game in the top of the ninth.
 
By the Numbers
  • The Polar Bears relied on a staff day on the mound with six pitchers combining over nine innings.
  • The top of Bowdoin's lineup had a productive day at the plate. Aidan Carey was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Bobby pearl and Chris Dirks were both 2-for-5. Cann and McKenzie were both 3-for-5.
  • Bowdoin tallied 15 hits, two doubles, one triple, and four homeruns.
