Women’s Lacrosse Rally Comes Up Short in Saturday Loss at Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team rallied in the fourth quarter, but came up just short in a 16-14 loss to Trinity on Saturday. The 14th-ranked Polar Bears fall to 8-4 (3-4 NESCAC) while the 18th-ranked Bantams move to 7-3 (4-2 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Trinity came out of the gates quickly, sprinting to a 4-0 lead after five minutes and holding a 5-1 edge after one quarter.
  • A high-scoring second quarter saw the teams score five goals apiece and the Polar Bears cut the Bantam lead to three goals twice before settling for a 10-6 deficit at intermission.
  • The Bantams extended their lead to 14-8 after the third quarter, which proved critical as the Polar Bears scored six times in the lightning-delayed fourth period.
  • Bowdoin was able to cut the gap to two goals, 15-13, following an Annabelle Gersch goal with 3:05 to go, but Trinity added a key insurance goal with 22 seconds remaining to secure the win.
By The Numbers  Up Next
  • Bowdoin will return to action at Colby on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
