Colby Pulls Away in Second Half to Tip Women's Lacrosse

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Colby College women's lacrosse team pulled away in the second half to defeat Bowdoin, 15-7, on Wednesday night in a battle of nationally-ranked teams. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears fall to 8-4 (3-4 NESCAC) while the fourth-ranked Mules move to 10-1 (6-0).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin controlled the play early, shutting out Colby for the first 17:02 of the game, and getting a pair of Sophia Sudano goals to take a 2-0 lead out of the gate.
  • The teams traded goals in the second quarter as the Polar Bears maintained a 5-3 edge at intermission.
  • Colby rallied to take the lead for good in the third quarter, scoring seven goals, and adding five more in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

  • Sophia Sudano had a hat trick in the loss for Bowdoin while Annabelle Gersch added a pair of goals, two caused turnovers and four draws.
  • Fiona Bundy had a team-high six draw controls with a pair of caused turnovers as well.
  • Julia Jardina led Colby with four goals.
  • Izzy Cisneros made three saves, allowing eight goals in 38:02 for Bowdoin before giving way to Sophie Brett, who stopped two shots and allowed seven goals in 21:58.
