Baseball Blows Past Bantams for 15-6 Win

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin baseball team opened conference play with a 15-6 win at Trinity on Friday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 8-10 (1-0 NESCAC), while the Bantams are (8-8, 2-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the top of the fourth, before Trinity put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Bobby Pearl and Luke Chessie each drove in a run in the first, while CJ Brito-Trinidad had an RBI single in the third.
  • Kevin Murray pushed a run across the plate in the fourth and Robbi Sarmanian eventually scored on a wild pitch. Brito-Trinidad added another RBI single.
  • Trinity scored a pair in the bottom half of the inning, but Bowdoin again pushed the lead as Murray tripled in the sixth and scored on an error.
  • Gabe Peckler tallied a solo homer in the seventh and Stephen Simoes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brito-Trinidad had his third RBI single.
  • Peckler hit his second homer of the day in the eighth, scoring three. Trinity plated four runs in the bottom half of the inning, but Bowdoin closed out the game with a two-run homer off the bat of Brito-Trinidad.
 
By the Numbers
  • Jack Mullen pitched eight innings and allowed fourteen hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
  • Jack Olcott closed out the game and allowed one hit.
  • Simoes went 3-for-3 and crossed home plate four times.
  • Brito-Trinidad went 4-for-5 with five RBI.
