Baseball Drops Sunday Decision to Thomas

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Thomas' Devin Grindle hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Terriers a come-from-behind 6-5 win at Bowdoin on Sunday afternoon. The Terriers improve to 4-13 with the win while the Polar Bears fall to 7-9.
 
Game Highlights
  • Thomas took an early lead with a pair of runs in the third inning, as Matt Seymour doubled home Brad Smith and then came home later in the inning on a single by Tony Meza.
  • Bowdoin tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth frames, on an RBI groundout by Bobby Pearl and run-scoring single by Stephen Simoes.
  • The Polar Bears seemingly took command in the sixth frame, scoring three runs with two outs. Gabe Peckler laced a two-run single and then came home on a double by Robbie Sarmanian to give Bowdoin a 5-2 edge.
  • Thomas drew to within 5-4 in the seventh with a pair of runs and then, following a double by Ryan Kappelman, Grindle ripped a two-run homer to left, giving the Terriers a 6-5 lead.
  • Bowdoin put two runners on with two outs in the ninth inning, but Jarad Willette got the final out of the game to preserve the win.
By the Numbers
  • Garrison Paillet got the win in relief for Thomas with three strong innings, while Willette was credited with the save.
  • Aidan Schraeder took the loss for Bowdoin after permitting the go-ahead home run in the eighth.
  • C.J. Brito-Trinidad went 3-5 with a double and a run scored for Bowdoin while Stephen Simoes, Bobby Pearl, Gabe Peckler and Robbie Sarmanian had two hits apiece.
