BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team finished its three-game series against Colby with an 8-7 walkoff victory, but lost the series 2-1.
The Polar Bears (13-15, 3-9 NESCAC) lost Friday's game by a 5-0 margin and split Saturday's series. The Mules (18-2, 6-3 NESCAC) took game one 7-6, but the Polar Bears won game two 8-7.
Game One Highlights
- The Mules threw a no-hitter against Bowdoin, striking out nine and walking one.
- Bowdoin allowed eight hits and five runs, three earned. Anna Halliday struck out five batters.
- Colby scored one run in the second, a pair in the third and two more in the fifth.
- Lilly Armstrong had a stolen base.
Game Two Highlights
- Bowdoin and Colby each plated a pair of runs in the first inning. The Polar Bears' came as Armstrong stole second and drew the throw, allowing Kasey Cunningham to score. Katryna Dukehart had an RBI single to plate the second.
- Colby took the lead in the second with one more run and put together a four-run fourth to make it 7-2.
- Angelina Mayers drove in Zoe Stilphen with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
- Mayers had another RBI in the seventh to begin the three-run rally. Lilly Armstrong added another RBI and Dukehart earned a bases loaded walk.
- Mayers and Stilphen went 2-for-3.
Game Three Highlights
- Colby got on the board with a two-run homer in the top of the first.
- Bowdoin answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.
- Armstrong and Sydney Long both had RBI singles. Dukehart tagged an RBI double down the line. JK Bradley hit a two-run single to center.
- A run in the second and four more in the fourth gave Colby the lead.
- An error in the fourth allowed Bradley to score and Dukehart had the game-tying RBI single in the fifth.
- Kasey Cunningham led off the bottom half of the seventh with a triple to left. Mayers followed up with a walk-off RBI.
- Armstrong went 3-for-3 and Bradley was 2-for-3.
