Baseball Coasts Past Colby in Series Opener

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin baseball team cruised to a 10-3 victory over Colby to open the series on Friday in Waterville.
 
The Polar Bears are 12-14 overall but own a 5-2 record in conference play. The Mules are 16-8 with a 4-3 NESCAC record.
 
Game Highlights
  • CJ Brito-Trinidad put Bowdoin on the board in the top of the first, singling and driving in Ben McKenzie.
  • The Mules took their only lead of the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run single.
  • Bowdoin regained the lead off Robbie Sarmanian's two-run single in the fifth. Jack Olcott drew a bases loaded walk and pushed Luke Chessie across the plate.
  • Colby's final run was an RBI triple in the bottom half of the fifth.
  • Bowdoin exploded for five runs in the seventh inning. Kevin Murray and Olcott both had RBI singles, while McKenzie had a two-run triple. Brito-Trinidad notched another RBI with a fly out to center.
  • Stephen Simoes drove in Bowdoin's final run in the last inning.
