Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Mullane's School-Record Night Leads Men's Lacrosse Over Clark

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin's Donal Mullane tied the program record for goals (8) and points (11) in a game as the seventh-ranked men's lacrosse team cruised to a 28-7 non-conference win over Clark on Wednesday evening. With the victory, the Polar Bears (13-0) match the 1989 and '73 teams for most consecutive wins to start a season. Clark falls to 3-10 with the loss.

Game Highlights
  • The teams traded goals in the opening four minutes before the Polar Bears took command with an 8-0 run over a span of 7:05, sparked by three goals and two assists from Mullane.
  • Bowdoin led 10-2 after one quarter and expanded their lead to 15-3 at halftime.
  • The Polar Bears continued to roll in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 13-4 over the final 30 minutes.
By The Numbers
  • Donal Mullane was unstoppable, scoring on eight of his 12 shots and singlehandedly out-scoring the entire Clark team. His eight goals tied the school mark with eight other players and were the most by a Bowdoin player in 40 years – most recently tied by Kevin Conroy vs. Colby in 1982.
  • Mullane's 11 points in the win tied the school's single-game record held by three other players, and matched most recently by teammate Will Byrne earlier this season at Western New England.
  • Byrne added four goals and two assists himself in the win while Zach Chandler had two goals and three assists.
  • Pat White had a team-high three caused turnovers while Ethan Barnard led all faceoff specialists with a 21-23 effort on the night.
  • Robert Hobbs (three saves), Jake Phillips (zero saves) and Caleb Green (two saves) split time in goal in the win for the Polar Bears.
Up Next
  • Bowdoin will return to NESCAC action Saturday as they travel to New London, Conn., to face Connecticut College at noon.
