Women's Tennis Falls to Pair of Top-Ten Foes in Massachusetts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team suffered a pair of setbacks in Massachusetts this weekend to nationally-ranked opponents. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears fell to 5-6 on the season with a 9-0 loss to sixth-ranked MIT and 7-2 defeat to 10th-ranked Tufts.
 
Weekend Highlights
  • Bowdoin fell behind early against MIT, 3-0 following doubles play, and couldn't recover as the Engineers took straight-set singles wins to take the victory.
  • Against Tufts, Elizabeth Yu/Hannah Buckhout won an outstanding point at number one doubles, claiming an 8-7 win. Bowdoin battled at the other two doubles spots, but trailed 2-1 heading to singles action.
  • Evelyn Safar was the lone Polar Bear to capture a win in singles play, however, taking a 6-3, 6-2 triumph.
