Softball Claims Series From Bates With Saturday Rout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College softball team routed Bates, 10-2, in five innings Saturday to take the decisive third game of the NESCAC weekend series between the squads. The Polar Bears improve to 12-13 (2-7 NESCAC) with the win while the Bobcats fall to 8-13 (1-8 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • After Bates scored an unearned run in the top of the first, Bowdoin scored four runs in the bottom of the frame and never trailed again.
  • Lilly Armstrong cranked a three-run homer to right field to spark the four-run rally, and Katryna Dukehart followed with a solo blast to left to make it 4-1.
  • Bates cut into the lead with a single run in the second but Angelina Mayers answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot to left center.
  • Bowdoin put the game away with five runs in the third. JK Bradley hit an RBI double to start the rally and Shea Sullivan followed with a two-run double to right field.
  • Bowdoin added a sac fly from Kasey Cunningham and another RBI single from Mayers to create the eight-run rule cushion.
