Softball Tops Thomas in Pair of Sunday Games

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team bounced back for a doubleheader sweep of Thomas College on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 10-12 and drop Thomas to 5-13. Bowdoin won 8-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two.
 
Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin went ahead with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Angelina Mayers and Lilly Armstrong each recorded an RBI.
  • Mayers and Armstrong hit back-to-back triples in the third and each drove in another run.
  • Zoe Stilphen recorded an RBI groundout in the fourth.
  • Armstrong scored on an error by the catcher in the sixth and Ella Jones and Alicia Ross each had RBI in the sixth to end the game in six innings.
  • Anna Halliday earned the win and allowed just two hits with four strikeouts.
  • Ross, Mayers, and Kacey Cunningham were all 2-for-4. Armstrong went 2-for-3.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Caroline Sablone plated the first run of game two with a single to right.
  • Mayers and Sablone hit back-to-back doubles for a pair of runs in the third.
  • Katryna Dukehart and Shea Sullivan added back-to-back solo homers.
  • Sydney Lang closed out the fourth inning scoring with a two-run double to left.
  • Ross added another run with a groundout in the fifth.
  • Mayers and Sablone added back-to-back doubles again, this time with Mayers plated one run and Sablone a pair.
  • Thomas scored its only run of the day on a solo homer in the fifth.
  • Sablone went 4-for-4, while Mayers and Cunningham were 3-for-4.
  • Sullivan pitched all five innings and allowed just two hits.
