Men's Lacrosse Runs Away From Trinity on Senior Day

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team stormed Trinity in the first half en route to an 18-10 victory on Sunday afternoon at Whittier Field. The seventh-ranked Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 11-0 (7-0 NESCAC) and secure a conference quarterfinal postseason home game with the win. The Bantams fall to 5-5 (1-5 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored nine of the game's first ten goals and overwhelmed the Bantams with a seven-goal flurry in the second quarter.
  • After sprinting to a 3-0 start in the opening 5:37, Bowdoin scored six straight goals in a span of 8:38 in the second period to increase their advantage to 9-1.
  • Bowdoin led 10-3 at halftime and Trinity could get no closer than five goals in the second half as the Polar Bears cruised to victory.
By The Numbers
  • Patrick Fitzgerald (four goals, three assists), and Will Byrne (three goals, four assists) led the Polar Bears in scoring for the afternoon.
  • Jason Lach added four goals while Matt Ward pitched in three scores and an assist. Zach Chandler scored twice with three helpers.
  • Noah Robb and Liam Ford had two caused turnovers defensively for the Polar Bears, who got another strong performance from netminder Robert Hobbs, who stopped 17 shots, allowing just ten goals in the win.
  • Trinity was led by three goals from William Puccio.
