Softball Falls in Tight 2-1 Battle at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin softball team suffered a tight 2-1 loss to Tufts in their NESCAC opener on Friday afternoon.

The Polar Bears 6-7 (0-1 NESCAC) battled the 13-3 Jumbos (1-0 NESCAC) and allowed just six hits.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin escaped a no-outs bases loaded situation in the bottom of the first, without allowing the Jumbos to plate a run.
  • The Polar Bears scored to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Kyla Gary reached first on an error and advanced to second on Karlye Pallotta groundout. Gary stood on third following a wild pitch and scored Kasey Cunningham's sacrifice fly to left field.
  • Tufts answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Stringing together hits and strategic base running, the Jumbos scored on a groundout and single.
  • Neither team was able to put together a promising scoring drive in the final innings.
