Softball Continues Play In Florida Spring Break Schedule

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team experienced continued early season struggles with a pair of Sunday losses to Augustana College and Carleton College.
 
The Polar Bears (1-5) lost the day's first game to Augustana 4-3 and the nightcap to Carleton 8-5.
 
Augustana Game Highlights
  • Augustana scored a run in both the first and third innings before Bowdoin broke through in the fourth and took a fifth inning lead.
  • JK Bradley put Bowdoin on the board with a line drive double to center, driving in Karlye Pallotta.
  • In the fifth, Angelina Mayers plated Caroline Sablone and Shea Sullivan tagged a sacrifice fly to right.
  • Augustana walked off with the win in the seventh off an RBI single to center and a sacrifice fly.
  • Anna Halliday suffered the loss with ten hits allowed and four strikeouts.
  • Kyla Gary and Pallotta both had a stolen base.
 
Carleton Game Highlights
  • Bradley had the game's first RBI, driving in Kasey Cunningham in the top of the third.
  • Carleton scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-1 lead.
  • Bowdoin put up a pair of runs in the fourth, with RBI from Katryna Dukehart and Cunningham, but the Knights responded with two of their own.
  • Carleton tallied its final run in the sixth and Bowdoin made a late rally to push two more runs across the plate in the seventh.
  • Lilly Armstrong and Dukehart each had a double in the game. Sablone had a triple. Pallotta, Zoe Stilphen, and Cunningham all had stolen bases.
  • Sullivan took the loss in the circle with six innings of work and eight hits allowed. The sophomore walked three and struck out three.
