Women's Hockey Forces Overtime and Earns 2-2 Tie

AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's hockey team scored a third period goal to force overtime and earn a 2-2 tie against host Amherst on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 9-6-1 (5-5-1 NESCAC), while the Mammoths are 8-7-1 (5-5-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went up 1-0 midway through the second period. Gia Massari won a faceoff on the left dot and kicked the puck to the right point where Kathryn Kester waited. Kester slipped a pass center for Ali Dougal who teed up a shot. Massari intercepted the puck as it came down the slot and backhanded the puck in.
  • Amherst evened the game on a power play tally with four minutes remaining in the period. Rylee Glennon wristed a shot from the inside edge of the right circle.
  • Amherst took its first lead of the game midway through the third period. Leslie Schwartz shot from the right point towards the crease. Kate Pohl took the puck and wristed a shot from directly in front of the net.
  • Jackie Miller tallied the equalizer three minutes later. Miller cleaned up her own rebound, crashing towards pads, coming down the slot.

  • Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • Amherst was 1-for-6 on the power play.
  • Dani Marquez made 25 stops for Bowdoin.
  • Caitlin Walker made 28 saves.
