Men's Hockey Falls in Overtime to Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to Hamilton on Friday evening.
 
Hamilton improves to 7-7-0 (6-6-0 NESCAC). The Polar Bears played their eighth NESCAC overtime game and sit at 5-7-4 (5-5-3 NESCAC.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Continentals took an early lead 4:27 into the game. Cade Groton forced a turnover directly in front of the Bowdoin net and converted on the opportunity.
  • Hamilton had a promising look midway through the second frame. Owen Luft received a stretch pass down the left boards and tried to roof a shot near side. The puck missed wide and bounced off the side netting.
  • Bowdoin came out for the third with time remaining on a power play from the previous period. Luke Wheeler had the puck low on the right side and drew the defense. Wheeler found a wide open Chris Brown on the far post. Brown popped the water bottle with a top shelf goal to make it 1-1 28 seconds in.
  • With four minutes remaining, Alex Kozic broke up a three-on-one by poking the puck off the stick of Matt Gellerman.
  • Cam Berube made a key defensive play as time expired, blocking a cross on a Hamilton two-on-one near the goal face.
  • Grisha Gotovets scored the overtime game-winner one minute into play. Gotovets pulled across the goal face left to right and waited for Kozic to commit, eventually sliding a low shot across the ice and into the net.
