Women's Hockey Loses To Top-Ranked Panthers

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The top-ranked Middlebury women's ice hockey team pinned a 7-1 series opening setback on Bowdoin on Friday night.
 
The Panthers remain perfect and climb to 20-0-0 on the year (14-0-0 NESCAC). The Polar Bears slip to 10-9-1 (6-7-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Panthers took a 1-0 lead on a late power play goal in the first. Eva Hendrikson had the puck at the top of the slot and made a quick pass to Katie Hargrave on the right dot. Hargrave one-timed a pass to the center for another one-timer by Cat Appleyard.
  • Hargrave had a goal of her won just three minutes into the second with a huge solo effort down the right side.
  • With less than two minutes remaining in the second, Middlebury put away two quick goals to close out the period and head into intermission leading 4-0.
  • The Panthers went on to score three more goals in the third period.
  • Bowdoin spoiled in shutout in the final second, as Angelina Joyce cleaned up a rebound off a Middlebury skate in front of the goal.

  • Bowdoin went 0-for-2 on the power play.
  • Middlebury was 3-for-6 on the power play.
  • Dani Marquez stopped 33 shots.
  • Sophia Merageas made 17 saves.
