Brown Hat-Trick Leads Polar Bears Past Cardinals in Men's Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Chris Brown tallied a hat-trick to help the Bowdoin men's ice hockey team return to the win column with a 4-1 victory at Wesleyan on Saturday evening.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 6-9-4 (6-7-3 NESCAC). The Cardinals sit at 10-9-3 (8-5-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • With six minutes remaining in the first period, Bowdoin went ahead 1-0. Jack Studley capitalized on a defensive misplay behind Wesleyan's net that resulted in an open puck in the right corner. Studley passed to Chris Brown on the near dot and Brown went five-hole.
  • Wesleyan evened the game midway through the second period. Matt Zandi fired a shot through traffic from the right point to find net.
  • Bowdoin answered three minutes later. With a loose puck sliding up the slot, Joe Alexander skit on one knee and shot through traffic to go ahead 2-1.
  • Brown added his second of the game with six minutes remaining in the third. Following a faceoff in the Bowdon zone, Brown skated the length of the ice and put a shot inside right post.
  • Brown capped the game with an empty netter of a sprawling play by Patrick Callahan to break up a pass between two Wesleyan defenders.

  • Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • Wesleyan was 0-for-4 on the power play.
  • Alex Kozic earned the win with 30 saves.
  • Erik Voloshin made 24 stops.
