Women's Hoops Dispatches Presque Isle in Tuesday Night Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dismissed the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Tuesday evening, 87-59, in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 15-4 while the Owls fall to 8-9.
 
Game Highlights
  • After a sluggish start, the Polar Bears rolled off a 10-0 run to close the opening period and carry a 20-11 lead into the second quarter.
  • Bowdoin pushed the lead to as many as 20 points in the second quarter, and settled for a 39-29 lead at the break.
  • The Polar Bears pulled away for good in the third quarter, racking up 31 points in the frame and leading by as many as 34 points in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin's win cam courtesy of rebounding and defense, as the Polar Bears held a 56-36 edge on the glass, cashing in for 26 second chance points and scored 24 points off 24 Owls turnovers.
  • Sydney Jones (21), Sela Kay (18) and Annie Boasberg (10) all reached double figures while Jess Giorgio ended with eight points and team-high nine rebounds.
  • Bowdoin's bench accounted for 53 points in the win.
  • Presque Isle was led by 15 points from Emily Wheaton.
