Men's Hockey Scores Two Late Goals to Force Tie Against Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin men's hockey team came back from behind to force a 2-2 overtime tie against visiting Tufts on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears are 4-1-1 (2-1-1 NESCAC) after scoring two goals in the final five minutes to force overtime. The Jumbos are 2-5-1 (1-3-1 NESCAC) on the season.

Game Highlights
  • Despite being down a skater, the Jumbos struck first with 2:54 remaining in the first. Harrison Bazianos broke up a play at the top of the zone and found Tyler Sedlak. Sedlak carried the length of the ice down the right side and slid a pass back to Sedlak coming down the slot. Sedlak put a quick shot through the five-hole.
  • Just 2:30 into the final period Tufts went ahead 2-0. Max Resnick dumped the puck from just inside the blue line to Brendan Fennell in the low slot. Fennell wristed a shot inside the left post to double the lead.
  • Bowdoin scored late in the third with exactly five minutes remaining. Luke Wheeler controlled the puck on the left boards and passed to Albert Washco on the right post for a one-timer.
  • Gabe Shipper forced overtime with a successful penalty shot conversation with under two minutes remaining in regulation. Shipper patiently waited to draw the goalie off his line and then slid the puck up and over the prone leg of Gustave Bylin.
  • The best look in overtime came with a Shipper feed to Bobby Pearl and one-timer into the chest of Bylin.
