Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Falls to Colby on Saturday Afternoon

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team suffered a series sweep by Colby following a 2-0 loss in Saturday's game.
 
The Polar Bears sit at 2-4-0 (1-3-0 NESCAC) as the Mules remain perfect at 5-0-0 (2-0-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
 
  • The Mules went ahead 1-0 at 13:21 in the first period. On the power play, Tate Senden fired a shot from the high slot directly into the net. Marquez stopped 12 shots in the frame.
  • Just 3:23 into the second frame, Colby made it 2-0. Courtney Schumacher set up the goal with a full wraparound move behind the net before feeding Breanna Studley right in front of the crease. Studley took a quick shot to best Dani Marquez.
  • The teams played a much tighter second period with the Polar Bears owning an overall 19-13 edge in shots, but the Mules recorded a 9-6 shots on goal advantage.
  • Marquez swallowed up a series of Colby jabs with three minutes remaining to keep the Polar Bears within striking distance.
  • Stephanie Lane rang a shot off the pipe after stripping a defender of the puck and turning back toward Marquez for a quality opportunity.
  • Bowdoin earned a power play in the final minute and pulled Marquez for a six-on-four advantage, but was unable to spoil the shutout.
