Men's Hockey Continues Strong Start with 5-2 Win Over Johnson & Wales

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team continued its winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Johnson & Wales to open the Colby-Bowdoin Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears remain perfect with a 3-0-0 record. The Wildcats are still in search of their first win with an 0-9-0 record.
 
Game Highlights
  • Andy Stoneman put the Polar Bears on the board with 3:42 remaining in the first period. Stoneman notched the goal with helpers from Bobby Pearl and Patrick Callahan.
  • Under two minutes into the second period, Gabe Shipper doubled the lead with a goal and an assist from Stoneman.
  • The Wildcats tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of quick rebuttal goals in the fourth and fifth minutes of the second.
  • The game remained tied until the last 16 seconds of the middle frame, when Callahan tallied a power play goal.
  • Jack Studley scored early in the third and Pearl had a later power play goal to secure the 5-2 win.
 
By the Numbers
  • Johnson & Wales went 0-for-9 on the power play. The Polar Bears were 2-for-7.
  • Bowdoin had five individual scorers and Stoneman led the team with two assists.
  • AJ DiChiara earned his first career win with a 34 save performance.
  • Jacob Perrin made 38 stops for the Wildcats.
