Men's Hockey Remains Perfect with 6-0 Win Against UMass-Boston

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team continued its hot start with a 6-0 shutout at home against UMass-Boston on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 4-0-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 season. The Beacons are 2-8-0 on the year.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin tallied their first home goal of the season 7:45 into the opening frame. Ethan Kimball won a faceoff on the right dot and kicked the puck to Albert Washco on the back edge. Kimball drifted center and put a shot over the right shoulder of Liam Murray.
  • A minute later, Jack Studley made it 2-0. Bobby Pearl took the initial shot and his rebound was stuffed past Murray by Studley.
  • The Polar Bears added a third goal at 10:40. The puck ping-ponged off the sticks of Luke Wheeler and Pearl in front of the net, before Jesse Lycan finished off the play at the left post.
  • With under one minute remaining in the first, Kimball received a feed from Gabe Shipper on the right point. Shipper found Kimball coming down the slot. Kimball pulled right across the goal face and put away a backhanded shot.
  • The Beacons kept Bowdoin scoreless through the first 17 minutes of the second period, but eventually Chris Brown broke through. Jesse Lycan won the puck in the right corner and found Brown on the inside edge of the near circle. Brown one-timed the feed to make it 5-0.
  • Bowdoin reached the six goal mark 4:05 into the third. Patrick Callahan took a shot from the right point that went into traffic in front. Andy Stoneman freed the puck from the near post and found Joe Alexander on the far side.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Beacons went 0-for-5 on the power play.
  • Alex Kozic picked up his second career shutout with a 17 save performance.
  • Murray made four stops in the first period. Sam Best made 22 saves in the second and third frames.
  • Bowdoin had no repeat goal scorers with six individuals scoring. Pearl had a pair of assists.
