BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming & diving teams split their season opening results in a dual meet with WPI and MIT.
The men defeated WPI 202-94, but lost 197-90 against MIT. The women turned in similar results with a 214-86 setback to MIT and 231-67 win over WPI.
Men's Meet
- Brim Peabody posted an impressive 1000 yard freestyle come-from-behind win with a time of 10:23.07. Peabody added a second place result in the 500 free (5:01.41).
- Alex Grand'Pierre returned to Greason Pool and picked up where he finished at the end of last season with another victory in the 100 breaststroke (57.07). Grand'Pierre repeated the feat in the 200 breaststroke (2:05.90).
- Niema Macombe landed in second in the 1-meter with a point total of 231.30. Macombe netted second in the 3-meter with a tally of 194.75.
- Dylan Zhang made a splash in his first collegiate meet with a second place finish in the 200 free (1:44.32) and another in the 200 IM (1:55.49).
- Evan Morales turned in a time of 2:00.74 in the 200 fly, good for second place.
Women's Meet
- Tatum Zupnik outpaced the competition in the season-opening 50 free with a time of 24.43.
- Sadie Smith earned second in the 1-meter diving competition by a slim half-point with a tally of 219.75. Smith nabbed a narrow victory in the 3-meter with 236.85 points.
- Emilie Grand'Pierre earned second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.02.
- Elizabeth Walsh began the season with runner-up results in the 200 fly (2:09.90) and 200 IM (2:10.00).
- Liv Smith turned in a time of 2:09.65 for a second place result in the 200 backstroke.
- Anna Roberts swam a 2:24.89 in the 200 breaststroke to finish second.
- Erin Lamping jumped into the collegiate season with a 5:26.09 in the 500 free and earned second.
