SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team suffered a second straight loss to open their campaign, falling to Haverford, 80-69, on Sunday afternoon at Swarthmore College. The Polar Bears stand at 0-2 this season while Haverford moves to 1-1.
 
Game Highlights

• In a low-scoring first half, both teams struggled from the field, as Haverford opened up a 28-20 edge at the break.
• Both teams caught fire in the second half, as both teams shot 56% from the field in the second stanza.
• Bowdoin was within three points following a Michael Simonds layup, 36-33, with 15 minutes to go, but Haverford answered with a 13-4 run that pushed the lead into double figures with ten minutes to play.
• The Polar Bears could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Fords held on to win.

• Michael Simonds led all players with 25 points while James McGowan scored 20 for the Polar Bears.
• Bowdoin finished at 44% shooting compared to 45% for Haverford.
• The Fords held a 41-36 edge in rebounding and went 20-27 from the free throw line as Bowdoin went just 12-24.
