Volleyball Posts Senior Night Shutout of Johnson & Wales

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 shutout of Johnson & Wales Friday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 13-8 while the Wildcats fall to 15-11.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears took down the Wildcats in three, winning by set scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-15.
  • Bowdoin jumped to a 10-4 lead out of the gate in the opening set and controlled the lead throughout. Bowdoin led by as many as ten points late before settling for the 25-19 win, courtesy of a Lauren Lange kill to end it.
  • The second set was the most competitive of the night with the J&W rallying from a late four-point deficit to tie the score at 24-24 with a 4-0 run. Bowdoin regained its footing, got a kill from Jenna Robbins and a block by Mary John and Jaida Hodge-Adams to end it, 26-24.
  • The Polar Bears cruised in the third set to complete the sweep, blowing up a close score with a 8-1 run midway through the frame en route to a 25-15 win.
By The Numbers
  • The win was the fourth straight for Bowdoin between two of New England's traditional volleyball powers.
  • Jenna Robbins led the way for Bowdoin with eight kills, seven service aces and 13 digs on the night.
  • Jaida Hodge-Adams had eight kills and four blocks while Lauren Lange had seven kills and five blocks. Sarah Evans completed a big night for Bowdoin's three-member senior class with five kills of her own. 
  • Ella Haugen recorded 30 assists and Maya White had 13 digs as Bowdoin held J&W to just .096 hitting percentage in the win.

  • Bowdoin will conclude their regular season on Saturday with a home match against Tufts at 2:00 p.m. in Morrell Gymnasium.
