Field Hockey Soars Past Eagles For Homecoming Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team picked up its second consecutive win with a 6-1 victory over Husson University on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears (6-3) had a strong week against in-state opponents, picking up two wins. The Eagles are now 4-5 on the season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 off a Faith Jennings goal in the seventh minute of play. Jennings opened the second quarter with another tally just 1:12 into the frame.
  • Jill Cloonan came out of halftime and scored after collecting her own rebound and pushing it past the goalie.
  • Olivia Cunningham finished off a feed from Hanna Wurdack to close out the third quarter and leave Bowdoin with a 4-0 lead and 15 minutes remaining in play.
  • Caroline Higgins put a stick on Jill Cloonan's shot from the near left side, just 1:07 into the final quarter.
  • Maya Malenfant finished off a perfect feed from Sophia Rosati to round out Bowdoin's scoring.
  • The Eagles spoiled the shutout with a successful penalty corner with time expired. Julia Murch drove the ball from the top of the circle and buried it in the left corner.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a decisive 26-3 edge in shots and 19-2 shots on goal advantage.
  • The Polar Bears took 11 penalty corners to Husson's three.
  • Julia Arsenault made one save to earn the win.
  • Kimmie Goddard played 51.32 and made 12 saves. Rileigh Andre played the final minutes and stopped one shot.
