BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team's offense exploded for an 8-3 win over Colby on Tuesday night.
The Polar Bears (9-4, 4-4 NESCAC) extend their winning streak against the Mules (5-8, 1-8 NESCAC) to 17 consecutive games, dating back to 2004.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin had a 3-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, with goals by Faith Jennings, Jill Cloonan, and Sophia Rosati.
- One minute into the second quarter Pernilla Shaw put Colby on the board. Mackay Bommer deflected in a drive by Georgie Coetzer to extend Bowdoin's lead to 4-1 going into halftime.
- Coetzer got the first of two identical goals in the third quarter three minutes in and another with less than a minute to play. Both goals came as Caroline Higgins inserted to a Jennings stick stop and Coetzer blast.
- Sandwiched between Coetzer's quarter opening and closing goals, Casey Winslow and Shaw each scored for Colby. Cloonan added her second of the day as well.
- Bommer also had a two goal game with a late fourth period goal off a rebound.
By the Numbers
- Bowdoin held a 12-6 shot advantage, while the Mules held a slight edge in corners 7-6.
- Julia Arsenault and Emily Loeb each made two saves with defensive saves coming from Georgie Coetzer and Charlotte Epker.
- Cloonan and Coetzer each had two goals and one assist. Bommer joined the pair with a two goal game. Jennings tallied one goal while racking up four assists. Caroline Higgins also recorded a trio of helpers.
