Men's Soccer Hands Hamilton First Loss of the Season

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team earned its fifth consecutive shutout and knocked off the ninth-ranked team in the country with a 4-0 victory over Hamilton.

The Polar Bears (9-1-2, 4-1-2 NESCAC) handed the Continentals (8-1-3, 4-1-3 NESCAC) their first loss of the season.

Game Highlights
  • Charlie Ward looked to give the Polar Bears a lead in the 30th minute, but saw the shot denied at the last second by the outstretched hand of a diving Ben Zeigler.
  • Just two minutes later, Bowdoin broke through. Harry Cooper lined up a corner kick and put the ball into play. Julian Juantorena elevated for a header that went bar-down to score the game's first.
  • Matthew Braver took advantage of a defensive misstep in the final three minutes of the half to tuck a perfectly placed shot inside the right post from the top of the box.
  • Minseo Bae put the ball in play off a corner kick but the Polar Bears were unable to execute the set piece. The ball bounced back out to Bae who sent it through and Dylan Reid tapped in the team's third in the 53rd minute.
  • Bowdoin iced the game with a fourth goal in the 68th minute. Mateo Pacelli made a short pass from the goal line to Ronaldo Cabral in the center. Cabral connected with the feed for a one-timer to the far left post.
