Volleyball Sweeps Trinity on Dig Pink Night in Morrell Gymnasium

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of Trinity to open a big weekend of NESCAC play at Morrell Gymnasium. The victory, which was the fourth in five matches for the Polar Bears, improves the team to 9-7 (5-3 NESCAC) while the Bantams fall to 6-10 (2-5 NESCAC).

Match Highlights

The Polar Bears took the win by scores of 25-13, 25-22, 26-24 in increasingly competitive sets.
Bowdoin cruised in the first set, using a 5-1 run out of the gate to take the lead and never trailed in a 25-13 win.
The Polar Bears continued to roll in the second set, rallying from an early deficit to take a 22-15 lead late. The Bantams made a late push, but Bowdoin held on for a 25-22 triumph.
Bowdoin seemed to be in good shape, leading 22-18 in the third, but Trinity scored five straight points to take a 23-22 lead. The Bantams were serving for the set, up 24-23, but Bowdoin rallied to score three straight, including a back-breaking ace by Lauren Lange and a game-clinching kill by Jenna Robbins.

By The Numbers

Jenna Robbins posted 11 kills and three aces to go with ten digs in the win for Bowdoin.
Jaida Hodge-Adams had nine and Mary John added six kills for the Polar Bears.
A strong defensive effort at the net saw Bowdoin collect nine blocks, led by five from Lange and four from John.
Ella Haugen dished out 28 assists and Maya White led Bowdoin with 15 digs.
