BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team knocked off 12
th-ranked Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, dealing the Cardinals just their second loss of the 2022 campaign, in a NESCAC match in Morrell Gymnasium. It's the fourth straight win for the Polar Bears over the Cardinals dating back to 2019 and improves Bowdoin to 10-7 (6-3 NESCAC) while Wesleyan drops to 16-2 (7-1 NESCAC).
Match Highlights
- Bowdoin battled back twice, prevailing by set scores of 13-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-15, 15-12
- Wesleyan dominated the opening set, cruising to a 25-13 win, before Bowdoin answered with a 25-20 second set win where they led throughout to knot the score at 1-1.
- The third set was the most competitive of the afternoon, as the Cardinals rallied from a 24-20 deficit, fending off several set points from Bowdoin and closing on a 7-1 run to take a 27-25 win.
- Bowdoin answered again, unphased by the Cardinal comeback, and jumped to a 10-3 lead out of the gate in the fourth set, never trailing in a convincing 25-15 win to force a tiebreaking fifth set.
- The Polar Bears took control with a 4-0 surge to open the fifth set. Wesleyan could never catch up, despite closing the gap to a single point on two occasions, including a 13-12. Bowdoin sealed the win with a pair of late attack errors by the Cardinals to clinch the win.

- Sarah Evans led Bowdoin with 18 kills while also collecting 10 digs.
- Jenna Robbins added 16 kills and 18 digs while Jaida Hodge-Adams had 11 and nine.
- Ella Haugen had 50 assists, four kills, six aces, and 14 digs while May White collected 27 digs.
- Bowdoin's defense was outstanding, collecting 95 digs as a team and recording a season-high 12 blocks, led by Mary John's five.
