Women's Soccer Upsets Top-Ten Babson on Saturday Afternoon

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team upset the tenth-ranked team in the country with a 2-0 win at Babson on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears climb to 7-2-0 on the season, while handing the Beavers their first loss of the year (8-1-0).

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 in the 48th minute. After an intentional handball to prevent a Bowdoin goal, the Polar Bears were awarded a penalty kick. Rachael Peacock lined up the PK, but saw her bid denied by Babson's goalie. Isa Quintana ran in and drilled the rebound just under the crossbar, near side, to put Bowdoin on top.
  • In the 64th minute, the Polar Bears doubled their goal tally. Samaya Bernardo sent a cross from the right wing to Rylie McLaren alone at the top of the goal box. Babson's goalie got a piece of McLaren's shot, but the ball hit the underside of the crossbar and deflected in.
  • Bowdoin dominated the second half, holding an 11-3 edge in shots.
