Cross Country Teams Earn High Finishes at Maine State Meet

BANGOR, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's cross country team placed second while the men took third at the Maine State Championship hosted by Husson at Saxl Park on Saturday.

Women's Meet Highlights

Bowdoin took second place with a team total of 67 points, trailing only Bates (18) and ahead of Colby (76) in a field of nine squads.
Leila Trummel anchored the effort for Bowdoin with a third-place individual showing, covering the 5k in 18:17.2.
Abby Mueller (19:02.3) and Lex Davis (19:03.8) used a late push to earn 11^th and 12^th place at the line for the Polar Bears.
Claire Wyman was 20^th overall (19:23.1) and Jane Hirschman was 30^th (19:38.3) in a field of 118 runners.

Men's Meet Highlights

The Polar Bears totaled 81 points on the day, finishing behind Bates (24) and Colby (36) in the 12-team field.
Despite missing their top two runners from last week's Bowdoin Invitational, a number of other runners stepped up for Bowdoin, including Brooks Peters, who earned an eighth-place showing in 25:32.3 on the 8k course.
John Auer was right behind in 11^th spot at 25:52.8, while Ashton Dunlap also earned a top-20 showing with a 19^th-place finish in 26:22.3.
Ben Bockmann (26:27.0) and Nicholas Mott (26:28.8) rounded out the top five Polar Bear finishers in the 115-competitor event.

Up Next

The Polar Bears are off next weekend and will return to action on October 15 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
