Women's Hockey Picks Up 5-2 NESCAC Win Over Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team split the weekend series with Hamilton following a 5-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears sit at 5-5-0 (2-4-0 NESCAC), while the Continentals are 6-4-0 (3-3-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Elly Whitmore won the puck off the boards and banked it out to Ally Thanassi. Thanassi found Zoe Wilson going left to right who solved Hamilton's netminder for the first Bowdoin goal of the series. Bowdoin took the lead with 4:57 remaining in the first.
  • With three seconds to play in the frame, Jane McCarter picked the puck off the defense on the left side and skated in for a solo effort power play goal.
  • Allie Britt extended the lead to three just over a minute into the second. Izzi Stoddard skated next to Britt on the left dot and traded the puck. Britt skated across and deposited her first goal.
  • Stoddard added another tally under two minutes into the final period, backhanding the puck into the net.
  • Hamilton spoiled the clean sheet with a scrum goal 2:20 into the third period.
  • Just 36 seconds later and moments into the power play, Sami Quackenbush fired a shot from the high slot and into the net.
  • Britt made a significant effort to get around a sliding Hamilton defender and deposit an empty netter, but instead slid the puck to Izzi Stoddard for a clean finish with 53 seconds remaining.
