Women's Hockey Drops Series Opener to Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Hamilton College women's ice hockey team pinned a 4-0 setback on Bowdoin in the first NESCAC game for both teams in the new year.
 
The Polar Bears fall to 4-5-0 on the season and 1-4-0 NESCAC. The Continentals improve to 6-3-0 (3-2-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Hamilton's first goal came on an early power play. Claire McGennis buried the rebound to put the Continentals ahead.
  • With under a minute remaining in the first period, Maddie Hong added another tally as a rebound kicked up the slot and she carried back down for the team's second.
  • With five minutes remaining in the second. Abby Smith stripped a Bowdoin player in the Hamilton zone and skated the length of the ice to earn a two-on-one with Zoe Katz to the left. Smith drew the defense and slipped a past left for Katz to put home.
  • Four minutes into the final frame, Nancy Loh made it 4-0 with a breakaway goal.

  • Bowdoin went 0-for-1 on the power play.
  • Sidney Molnar made 32 saves for the shutout.
