Men's Hoops Dispatches Saint Joseph's in Non-Conference Road Win

STANDISH, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team had four players in double figures in an 81-70 road win at Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears improve to 9-4 with the win while the Monks fall to 2-9 on the year.
 
Game Highlights
  • After trailing in the early going, Bowdoin's Manav Randhawa spurred the Polar Bear offense with four three-pointers in the opening half.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as 15 points in the opening period, 41-26, before a quick 6-0 surge before the break trimmed their lead to nine points, 41-32, at halftime.
  • The Monks stayed within striking distance in the opening minutes of the second half, before a game-breaking 8-0 run, all coming on baskets from Randhawa, pushed the lead to 17 points, 59-42, with 12 minutes to go.
  • Saint Joseph's could get no closer than eight points in the closing moments as Bowdoin cruised to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Randhawa went 8-14 overall, and 6-12 from three-point range, contributing 22 points off the bench to lead the Polar Bears.
  • Michael Simonds also scored 22 points with seven rebounds while Cole Hanin had 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
  • Jack Shea also saw double figures with 10 points as the Polar Bears shot 49% from the field in the game.
  • The Polar Bear defense held the Monks to just 36% shooting from the field.
