Scalding Second Half Leads Williams Past Men's Hoops

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Williams College men's basketball team shot 76% from the field in the second half of an 82-53 win over Bowdoin on Friday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The 22nd-ranked Ephs improve to 11-1 (2-1 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 9-5 (0-1 NESCAC). 

Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears controlled the pace of play and led throughout the majority of the opening half, extending their lead to as many as seven points, 22-15, following a James McGowan bucket with six minutes left in the frame.
  • Williams closed the half on a 15-6 run, however, taking their first lead on a buzzer-beating jumper by Nate Karren, 30-28.
  • The Ephs put the contest out of reach with a 16-4 surge to start the second half and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the majority of the second period en route to the win. 
By The Numbers
  • Williams connected on 20-26 of their shots in the second half, including 6-7 three-pointers and finished at 60% shooting for the contest. 
  • Bowdoin settled for 31% from the field for the contest and were led by 14 points from James McGowan.
  • Williams was paced by 16 points apiece from Cole Prowitt-Smith and Brandon Roughley and had a 40-26 edge in rebounding for the game.
