Mules Power Past Polar Bears in Men's Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Colby men's hockey team remains atop the NESCAC standings after pinning a 3-1 setback on Bowdoin.

The Polar Bears fall to 5-6-4 (5-4-3 NESCAC). The Mules are 11-3-0 (8-2-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Colby hit the ice and put the Polar Bears in a 2-0 hole in the first seven minutes. Michael Morrissey picked off a pass in the neutral zone and created an odd-man rush opportunity. Morrissey passed right to Connor Blanchard who wristed a shot past Alex Kozic at 5:52.
  • A minute later, the Mules added their second. Nick Stapleton picked the puck off the back boards and fed Henry Molson in front. Molson worked the puck off the pads, jamming the puck into Kozic, until finally breaking through.
  • Bowdoin made it a one goal game with 5:05 remaining in the period. On the power play, Luke Wheeler passed to Joe Alexander on the left point. Alexander teed up a shot and Chris Brown deflected the puck in to make it 2-1.
  • Despite Bowdoin controlling play offensively, it was Colby who went ahead 3-1 in the third on a power play. Quinn Doyle carried out of the defensive zone and deep to the right corner. Quinn made a centering pass to Jake MacDonald for a one-timer.
