Williams Forces Weekend Split in Women's Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Williams women's hockey team exploded for three third period goals to skate away with a 5-1 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon.

Game Highlights
  • The teams played a balanced first period, with the most promising bid coming in the final minute during four-on-four action. Meghan Halloran broke away in transition and wristed a shot towards Dani Marquez. Marquez made a point blank glove save to deny the last minute chance.
  • Bowdoin took the lead 1:43 into the second period. Allie Britt came off the bench for a shift change and used her body to keep the puck in the offensive zone. Britt carried the puck deep down the left boards and found Angelina Joyce in the slow slot for a wrister.
  • The Ephs scored their first of the weekend midway through the frame. Maddie Tix backhanded a low angle shot from the right side and Robin Kitazono took a shot from the left post. Kitazono collected her own rebound and put the second chance past Marquez.
  • Williams took its first lead of the weekend on a power play goal with 3:18 remaining in the period. Quinn Dawson shoveled a shot on net and Marquez made the initial save. Brianna Hill buried the rebound to go ahead.
