Marquez Mutes Williams to Lead Women's Hockey to 2-0 Victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Dani Marquez made 39 saves to secure the Bowdoin women's hockey team a 2-0 victory over visiting Williams on Friday night.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-5-0 (5-4-0 NESCAC) with their fifth straight win, their longest winning streak since the 2012-13 season. The Ephs sit at 8-5-0 (4-5-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin took the lead 10:40 into the second period with a power play goal. Jackie Miller corralled the puck behind the net and fed Izzi Stoddard on the left dot. Stoddard fired a one-timer through traffic to best Chloe Heiting. The power play goal was the first surrendered by the Ephs this season.
  • Two minutes into the final frame Maddie Tix nearly found the tape of Brianna Hill in a two-on-one, but the feed was just beyond reach. Hill had a second opportunity minutes later, again with a dish from Tix, and this time buried a shot in Marquez's chest.
  • With 13 minutes remaining, Ellia Chiang had a breakaway down the center and forced Marquez to make a sprawling save at the right post.
  • Angelina Joyce rang the post midway through the frame, after Bowdoin successfully killed of a 5-on-3 power play.
  • Surgenor iced the game with an empty-netter from the left boards, diving from just inside the blue line.
